Macy Lynn delights in pulling the needle through fabric thereby double-stitching quilt patches for strength and endurance. Maw has taught Macy its value and she loves her for it, but Maw’s unpredictable disposition makes life complicated. At times Macy struggles to love Maw. Paw is her stabilizer, her anchor, He tries to temper his wife’s harsh ways and help the children grasp how Maw’s troubled childhood and youth plague her, encouraging ‘God has a way of healing hurts’.
Soon Lou marries, leaving Macy the last at home with her parents. Macy staggers under unprecedented demands. Paw lays a plan before Macy and Maw.
