More true-life adventure and calamity await Stacy Kanner in the sixth installment of Stephanie
Kauffman’s series that outlines the antics and experiences of a Christian school teacher who
works in various locations around the world and daily discovers new depths to the love and
power of God. Laughter, Loss, and Living spans the years 1999 to 2002 and takes readers to
South Carolina, British Columbia, and the Mediterranean. From fire ants to hurricanes to
poisonous snakes, Stacy faces new challenges but continues to rely on the hand of God as she
serves Him and His people in Christian education.
It’s 1999, and Stacy is headed to her next teaching adventure, this time in hot and humid
South Carolina. As in her previous teaching assignments, she throws herself into her work and
new home, exploring, building relationships, and bringing laughter and a sense of adventure
to her colleagues and students. After her time in the south, she accepts a job in Dawson Creek,
British Columbia, and then wraps up the three-year span in Greece and Albania.
In the midst of these adventures, Stacy faces her share of challenges, including the deteriorating
health of her mother and the need to adjust to her new “home” in Alberta. But God’s
faithfulness in every season stands in the forefront of the story, as He teaches Stacy valuable
life lessons about trusting and following Him. Educational and inspirational, Laughter, Loss,
and Living reminds us that God is constant, even when everything else shifts.
