This short story is an interesting debate between a Russian peasant Christian and an unbelieving atheist, proving the existence of God. Makes an excellent handout. In a Russian village called Pokrovsky, the communist cell was quite busy; they organized the local peasants, gathered them in meetings, enlightened them, etc. Lately they had begun to organize a struggle against religion, with an attempt to indoctrinate the population with the idea that religion is a superstition and therefore only uncivilized and illiterate people could accept it. Speakers from a nearby city were invited to meetings for propaganda purposes. Posters announcing the next meeting were displayed on the walls of the local Soviet offices and sometimes even on the gates of the church.
